What we do
Locations devised a comprehensive package to meet the challenges set by cruise-related traffic flows, to find a balance between positive and negative externalities, to respond to sustainable connections needs between city and port and to preserve natural, cultural and environmental heritage and identity.
Partners and associated partners in 5 countries (Italy, Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Albania) and representing 7 port cities (Trieste, Ravenna, Lisbon, Malaga, Durres, Rijeka and Zadar) shared and valorized each territory’s expertise and planning tradition and jointly devised a standardized, transnational, easily replicable operational model.
HOW WE DO IT
Locations promoted sustainable growth and low-carbon strategies in MED cruise destination cities by acting on the capacity of port, local and regional authorities to jointly develop planning tools - Low Carbon Transport Plans- for sustainable mobility of people and goods related to cruise flows, integrated with the mobility chapter of SEAPs/SECAPs or the cities' SUMPs.
Low Carbon Transport Plans (LCTP) foster the use of:
- low carbon transport systems
- multi modal connections
Locations’ effective, easily replicable operational model to develop Low Carbon Transport Plans in MED cruise destination cities, aimed to produce short-term results (7 LCTPs), transfer the outputs in the mid-term (5 new LCTPs), boost capacity building for 6 new technical organizations, promote the methodology in new MED countries and territories, cooperate with regional authorities managing ESI funds for the effective implementation of actions contained in the plans.
